Creating a Capsule Wardrobe-Wardrobe Makeover Part 1

Cloths, Cloths Everywhere and not a Stitch to Wear

By taking a little time to plan out a Capsule Wardrobe, you can save your self the hours of time you spent standing in front of your wardrobe saying in frustration "I have NOTHING to wear".

We've all been there, it usually comes about through unplanned impulse buying that has creates a wardrobe of disjointed and un-coordinated outfits.

Most times you wont even need to go and buy new item, or maybe it will just be updating a scarf of adding in that Classic Jacket that your missing.

Spending the time to bring together a capsule collection will feel like a load taken off your shoulders and a renewed sense that you know exactly what your going to wear for the week.

So lets start. This collection is aimed at a working women, 40+, classic taste. Your personal Taste and day to day activities will guide you Capsule, but this will give you the concept.

By changing some of the pieces you can adjust to suit your Capsule needs. Maybe you will change the pant to a quality Jean, the heel to a smart Boot, add in a white shirt?
You can see how easy it is to maximise the number of outfits.

Starting with the Trousers you can create 11 outfits.

The beige cardigan is not my style, so to personalise for me, I would swap it for a lightweight neutral coloured Trench coat.

By adding a second pair of trousers or even a jean, your number of looks increases and it also covers the weekends.

You can achieve the same 11 outfits with the skirt. Adding in a fashion Clutch can take it to those after work dinners.

It really is quite simple to take the stress out of what to wear.

The invitation has arrived in the mail and the dress code say's WHAT??

Decoding Dress Codes

When a special event is looming and you haven't got a thing to wear. Then one of the following might help you to narrow down what your looking for.

Black Tie or Formal
Gentlemen wear tuxedos and ladies wear cocktail dresses, long dresses or dressy evening separates.
White Tie or Ultra-formal
Gentlemen wear full dress suits, with white tie, waistcoat and shirt. Ladies wear long gowns.
Black Tie Optional
Gentlemen have the option of wearing a tuxedo; a dark suit and tie is the only alternative as this is still a formal occasion. Ladies wear cocktail dresses, long dresses or dressy evening separates.
Creative Black Tie
Leaves room for a touch of creativity in a gentleman’s interpretation of formal wear; he could update a tuxedo with a black shirt and no tie. Ladies wear long or short cocktail dresses or evening separates.
Semi-formal
This is the trickiest of all dress codes. Usually it means that tuxedos are not required, nor are long dresses. Daytime semi-formal events mean a suit for him and an appropriate short dress or dressy suit for her. An evening wedding (after 6 pm) would still require a dark suit for him, and a cocktail dress for her.
Cocktail Attire
Short, elegant dresses for her and dark suits for him.
Dressy Casual
No jeans or shorts. Similar to business casual, but a touch dressier.
Casual
Anything goes. Informal can mean the same as casual. However, when associated with a wedding or other special event, some form of decorum and good taste should prevail. A dress or dressy suit for her or a nice pair of non-suit trousers and shirt for him are informal, but still respectful of the event.

Accessorising for us girls is easy. A clutch will do for all of the above, and gives the impression you have thought about your look and not just dragged along you everyday tote.

And the most important accessory is you smile.

It's all about Kimba

There are so many reasons we tell ourselves why you shouldn't do something: because you're not worth it, because you don't have the money, because you don't have the time, because your not skinny enough, because your too old, because you don't have whatever.
But I decided to 'Do it anyway'!  And in July 2012 I launched www.kimbajbaccessories.com after forever in the retail industry working behind the scenes in the Buying office of two of Australia's biggest retailers I decided to take what I'd learnt and start carving out my own little empire.
Fast-forward.............It's 2014 and after 18mths it has been hard, amazing, scary, exhilarating, think scariest ride at the theme park and you pretty much nail the ups and down of owning a small business.
Would I change anything....nope, it has been the biggest learning curve doing it on my own and I've got to meet some amazing women along the way. Mistakes and triumphs have moulded both Kimba JB Accessories and I in ways I never could have imagined. I've loved how we have both evolved.
That's me - Kimba
One of the directions I've been lead is to get more involved in guiding women like myself  to look amazing. I'm 40++, Plus size, 175cm tall and I like to look gorgeous.
My head is buzzing with all the ideas and possibilities.
Life really is fabulous!!
